Feel totally deflated as the owner of tourism businesses who employs 14 people and puts over £600,000 into the local economy annually. We have just been abandoned by our council.

Short sighted seems to be an understatement of truly monumental proportions. Whilst I do understand budgets are tight, surely look at what brings in the money..... and tourism does this. Buckinghamshire Councils Leader is supposed to be a supporter of the tourism economy, suspect this was just warm words from good old Martin Tet!

Looks like we will have to do our best to succeed in spite of Buckinghamshire Council rather than because of!

Thank you Mary for your kind words on the role Visit Bucks has played in this important and valuable sector. The data presented as part of the tourism strategy stated we are losing out to our competitors. This gap will only grow with no DMO in the county to champion the sector. The impact will be felt far and wide. It's now up to us, collectively to turn this round! My hope is we come back fighting fit with a more effective DMO that can deliver more for our sector here in Bucks.

As you say in your article Mary, we are asking businesses to invest in Visit Buckinghamshire to enable us to keep championing the sector, in addition to writing to their local MP to let them know of the situation.
