A sneak preview
This is your preview and invitation to collaborate on a new tourism initiative.
Despite telling clients to not work in silo’s, I have been doing just that with some of my own work!
Quiet rule-breakers needed
I want to give you, my tourism community a sneak preview of the new venture that will bring together so much of what I have worked on over the past decade: Chilterns Tourism, A Year in the Chilterns blog, Chilterns Gifts and my growing videography services into a new digital platform called Chilterns Treasures.
Reaching consumers through a combined direct digital distribution, content will include events, a local destination spotlight, a deeper dive into the regions stories - did the sleeping girl of Turville ever wake up? Seasonal highlights, film locations, pet-friendly, what’s cooking and competitions - I am going to need prizes.
Chilterns Treasures
The countryside can be a scary, unwelcoming place: too many potential clothing traps, ‘gerr-orff my land’ signs, animals blocking the path, or no signal just when you need it.
Well, I know businesses that can help bring interesting local experiences that can be part of an active day out - or not, where to enjoy food & drink, even volunteering to bring in the grape harvest for example, or to join a small group on a nature ramble. Are you such a business?
Forget the supermarket, but do try the high street.
All whilst quietly telling the story of the landscape, the producers and their products under the new Chilterns Treasures umbrella.
Great minds don’t always think alike
Ideas for some quiet rule breaking and fun would be welcome for this audience, even if it’s only rolling down a hill! We’d be creating a halo effect as word gets out and the community grows.
Culturally Curious: professionals or active retirees, couples or groups of friends. Independent, active sightseers with broad interests in heritage and culture. They are looking for lively and interesting things to do and probably belong to the National Trust and visit their houses and gardens; but they also like fresh air and walking in attractive surroundings. But they perhaps are not sure what our region has to offer and need some friendly guidance. They appreciate locally produced food and products, are internet savvy (Facebook) and will book their accommodation online.
Pure Indulgence: girlfriends of all ages, mothers and daughters, old friends who book treats away – no men, no kids – well earned bliss! They will enjoy luxury accommodation in a lovely location, dine in fine restaurants, as well as local cafés and restaurants serving locally produced and possibly organic food. Not overly active but could be persuaded to try something new. Art galleries and local crafts appeal to them, theatre, festivals and events could be just the excuse needed to make the escape.
Is your business ready for a new marketing challenge?
These consumers are looking for new challenges but might not naturally think of our region and the many fantastic experiences we can offer. They’ll welcome our guidance and suggestions and are ready to meet new friends too.
Help build a brand! I am looking for content that will WOW consumers and convince them that time spent in the countryside, not matter the clothing trends, mud or transport challenges, is worth it. No product listings, but editorially-led content that resonates. If you are keen to be involved, contact me in the usual way and we chat about what Chilterns Treasures can do for your marketing in 2024.
We will be going national but more of that in the New Year.
